in Orlando, Fla., SCCA Pro Racing President and CEO Robert Wildberger today
announced schedule and staffing plans for the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am

As part of an SCCA Pro Racing press conference, it was revealed that
Trans-Am will make its first appearance at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park in
2010, headlining the June 5 – 6 weekend. The following month, Trans-Am will

will race alongside the Indy Racing League and World Challenge Championships
during the Honda Indy Toronto, July 18 – 20.
“It is a pleasure to have the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series back at the
Honda Indy Toronto with all the rich history and tradition it brings,” Honda

announced today that its Round Seven race, scheduled to be run Sept 5-6 at

it is in the best interest of all involved not to hold the event in 2009,”

Trans-Am competitors we’re looking forward to running in the inaugural pro

Rocketsports Racing Trans-Am Pre-Race Report: Virginia
News from Rocketsports Racing
EAST
LANSING, Michigan (April 15, 2009) – After scoring two top-six finishes
during the Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series season opener at Road Atlanta,
the Rocketsports Racing duo of Tomy Drissi and Daniel Ramoutarsingh are
eager to get back on track this weekend for Round 2 at Virginia
International Raceway.
VIRginia International Raceway is located in Southern Virginia and is known
for being one of the world’s finest road courses. The legendary climbing
esses and Oak Tree are waiting for the Trans-Am cars to rip up the asphalt.
While VIR offers four road course configurations, the Trans-Am Series will
be utilizing the 3.27-mile Full Course.
Both the team and Drissi have previously raced at VIR. Back in 2002, the
team fielded three Trans-Am cars earning one top-five result. Drissi,
started 8th on the grid and finished 13. For Ramoutarsingh, it will be his
first time.
“I am looking forward to going to VIR; it is a beautiful race track,” said
Drissi, driver of the #5 X-Men Origins: Wolverine Jaguar XKR. “I have only
raced there one time, so I don’t have a lot experience on this track. I am
going to have to just learn the track as fast as I can. It is going to be
important to get as much track time as possible before the race on Sunday.
The track features some esses there that are really daunting. Figuring out
the fastest way to get through them is going to be what separates the fast
guys from the rest this weekend. We will have to do the best we can and I am
confident with the #5 X-Men Origins: Wolverine Jaguar XKR and the
Rocketsports Racing team after our first race. I am looking forward to
really going to battle there and being strong.”
Driving the #8 Trinrico Steel & Wire Products Jaguar XKR, Ramoutarsingh will
have exactly the same focus as his teammate Drissi. “As exciting as it is to
be a part of the Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series, it is definitely hard to
be a rookie,” said Ramoutarsingh. “Each track on the schedule is going to be
a new experience for me and I have a lot to learn. I have never been to VIR,
but I am really looking forward to driving the #8 Trinrico Steel & Wire
Products Jaguar XKR there. It’s known to be one of the best tracks in the
U.S., so it is definitely going to be a challenge. I am going to do my best
to learn as quickly as I can and we will see how things go from there.”
The race weekend kicks off on Friday, April 17 with two days of practice.
Sunday morning will host Trans-Am qualifying with the 28-lap race scheduled
to take the green flag at 3:10 p.m. A race recap will be available on
www.rocketsportsracing.com following the event. For more information, check

Rocketsports Racing earns two top-six finishes in 2009 Trans-Am Series
season opener
News from Rocketsports Racing
EAST
LANSING, Michigan (March 23, 2009) – Tomy Drissi and Daniel
Ramoutarsingh rounded out the top six for Rocketsports Racing in the 2009
Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series season opener this past weekend at Road
Atlanta.
Driving the #5 X-Men Origins: Wolverine Jaguar XKR, Trans-Am veteran Drissi
made his 72nd series start from the outside of row one. The Hollywood
resident recorded a time of 1:21.391 (112.391 mph) during Saturday’s
qualifying round on the 2.54-mile course in Braselton, Georgia. The time he
posted was better than the existing track record. Drissi was just shy of
being awarded the pole position, which went to Tony Ave (1:20.950, 112.959
mph).
For most of the 36-lap race, Drissi was running solidly in the top three.
When an incident occurred on Lap 32 and brought out a yellow flag, it
appeared that Drissi had locked a second place finish. However, on the final
lap, Drissi’s Jaguar XKR came to a stop with a fuel pickup problem but he
still managed to finish fifth overall. Running 35 out of 36 laps possible,
Drissi’s posted the fourth fastest race lap with a time of 1:23.218 (109.880
mph). Drissi currently sits second in points with 29, trailing leader and
race winner Greg Pickett by 5.
“It was really exciting when we got to the track,” Drissi commented. “You
could just feel the excitement of Trans-Am, the enthusiasm was there within
the RSR team, myself, and all those involved. Being the first time back
after a two year period, both I and the team had a few kinks to work out,
but we ironed them out quickly. I think that we definitely had a pole car,
and we showed that just being off by a few tenths of a second. At the race
start some of the guys took off immediately and I struggled a bit to keep
up, but had a very fast car at the end of the race. Obviously, I am a little
upset over what happened because we definitely had a podium-finishing car.
With three laps to go I was catching (Greg) Pickett and I think we could
have won that race, or at least finished second. But then we got that fuel
problem and a yellow came out, and that just hurt us. We got lucky finishing
fifth, as it is important to score championships points if not the win. So
now we move forward and prepare for our next race at VIR (VIRginia
International Raceway). I think we have a great chance to do well this year.
I am really happy to be back with the team and back in Trans-Am.”
Ramoutarsingh also made an
impressive debut this weekend in Braselton, Georgia. It was a whole new
experience for him, being not only a rookie to the series, but also a rookie
to American road courses. He had to adjust to longer, more demanding race
courses in terms of higher speeds and cornering forces. He made vast
improvements in each on-track session by working on his driving and car
setup with the RSR engineers. Driving the #8 Trinrico Steel & Wire Products
Jaguar XKR, the Trinidad native recorded a qualifying time of 1:26.039
(106.277 mph) placing him 11th on the grid.
Making his first Trans-Am Series start, Ramoutarsingh was able to drive a
clean race and gain five spots to finish 6th overall. Completing 35 laps, he
posted his quickest race lap of 1:25.772 (106.608 mph) and earned his first
top-ten series’ finish. He also earned 20 championship points and sits
seventh in the Trans-Am Series standings after Round One.
“The weekend went very well, it was a real learning process trying to figure
out the track in the time that we had,” said Ramoutarsingh. “I am so
grateful for the team I have, they did an excellent job and it was a
pleasure working with them and with engineer John Mills. Tomy Drissi was a
great teammate; he helped me out a lot. We were able to cut down the lap
times gradually; again I wish I had more time on track. But I am very happy
that I was able to contribute and finish the race. I had no issues during
the race. It was very unfortunate what happen to Tomy – he deserved to be up
in front and drove a great race. I was very impressed with the level of
competition and the organizers; it was a really great event.”
The series next travels to VIRginia International Raceway April 17-19 as
part of the North Carolina Region Double National weekend. For more

SCCA® Trans-Am® Series Returns In 2009
ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 11, 2009) – After a
two-year hiatus since its last Champion was crowned, SCCA’s Trans-Am® Series
will return in 2009, with a planned eight-race schedule for the series which
held its first race in 1966.
Five of the eight races were announced today at the Performance Racing
Industry show, in Orlando, Fla., as well as the series’ title sponsor for
2009—Muscle Milk®.
A joint venture between Sports Car Club of America, Inc. and subsidiary SCCA
Pro Racing, the 2009 Muscle Milk® SCCA® Trans-Am® Series will consist of six
events in conjunction with some of the biggest SCCA Club Racing events
across the country, creating powerhouse SCCA weekends, and two key
professional events. Technical rules will be based on the SCCA Club Racing
GT-1 class.
“There is a dedicated group of Trans-Am loyalists who have been working to
make this happen since our last licensing agreement to operate the series
expired in 2005,” SCCA President & CEO Jim Julow said. “The re-birth of
Trans-Am begins in 2009 with a grassroots-based series that has the
potential to grow in the coming years into a full professional racing
series.
“On behalf of SCCA and SCCA Pro Racing, I would like to thank Jim Derhaag
for his tireless efforts to help put some of the critical pieces together
and Muscle Milk for coming on board as title sponsor to make the series a
reality.”
The series will begin its 42nd Championship season March 21-22 at Road
Atlanta as part of the Atlanta Region SCCA’s season-opening National race.
The series has previously visited Road Atlanta 12 times from 1973 through
2002, with race winners including former series Champions Peter Gregg, Pete
Halsmer, Dorsey Schroeder, Tommy Kendall, Scott Pruett and Boris Said.
One month later, April 17-19, the series heads from the rolling hills of
Georgia North to the rolling hills of Virginia, as part of North Carolina
Region’s Oak Tree Double National weekend at VIRginia International Raceway.
It is only the third time the historic series has visited the historic
racetrack, joining 1966 and 2002.
The series treks north of the border May 15-17 to return to Mosport
International Raceway for the 25th time as part of the Victoria Day Weekend
with the SPEED World Challenge Championships—reuniting SCCA Pro Racing’s top
series from the last 20 years. Pruett won the last series appearance at
Mosport in 2003.
The series’ lone visit to the left coast is a big one, joining the Rose Cup
Festival June 12-14 at Portland International Raceway. The huge, traditional
event played host to many Trans-Am Classic races, the last being in 1995,
won by Ron Fellows. From 1975-2005, the race circuit held 21 Trans-Am Series
races.
One month later, it’s back east to the Finger Lakes Region’s National at
historic Watkins Glen Raceway, July 11-12. From 1968-1998, The Glen held 25
Trans-Am Series races ranging from feature events to participants in the 6
Hours of the Glen to the opening act before the NASCAR Cup race. Three
additional races will be announced shortly.
“We’re excited about the return of Trans-Am and are pleased to be able to
give something back to the series that has provided so much excitement for
race fans throughout the years,” said 1978 series Champion Greg Pickett,
founder of CytoSport Inc., the makers of Muscle Milk.
All events are expected to be approximately 90 miles in length with no pit
stops. Races in conjunction with Club Racing events will have qualifying and
race sessions separate from the regular GT-1 competition grouping, so
drivers have the potential to run both the GT-1 Club Racing event and the
Trans-Am Series event on the same weekend.
History
The Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series dates back to its first season in 1966.
From 1966-1970, the series held a Championship to crown a Manufacturers’
Champion. In 1971, a Drivers’ Championship was formally adopted, with both
Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ Championships being awarded through the 2005
season. The series was split into two classes from 1976-1979, crowning
Champions in each division. In 2006, two additional races were held,
although no Manufacturers’ Champion was recognized.
Throughout the years, some of the greatest names in motorsports have
participated in the Trans-Am Series. Backdating the Drivers’ Championship to
the inaugural season, 30 different drivers took titles, with multiple
Championships being won by Paul Gentilozzi, Tommy Kendall, Mark Donohue,
Scott Pruett, Wally Dallenbach Jr., George Follmer, Peter Gregg, Horst
Kwech, Scott Sharp and Bob Tullius. Gentilozzi leads all drivers, with 31
career wins.
SCCA both owned and operated the Trans-Am Series, either internally or
through its SCCA Pro Racing subsidiary, from 1966 through 2000. In 2001,
SCCA began a series of outside licensing agreements for the series from
2001-2006. In its 41 seasons, the series held 446 separate races.
Regulations and Administration
Announcements regarding regulations and series administration will be made
shortly, although technical regulations will be based on current GT-1 rules
from the Club Racing General Competition Rules (GCR) with additional
potential safety requirements.
Club Racing events will be operated primarily by the individual SCCA
Regions, with alterations to the protest and appeals process to be similar
to that of Pro Racing events, managed by the SCCA National Staff. A
dedicated technical inspector will be at each Trans-Am Series event,
regardless of Club or Pro Racing sanction.
A series Web site is being established at www.sccatrans-am.com. Future
announcements will be placed there and at www.scca.com.

Drissi and Ramoutarsingh to Return to Trans-Am Series Competition in 2010
with RSR
News from RSR
EAST
LANSING, Michigan (May 6, 2010) - The weather is not the only thing
heating up as the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series is about the start
the ignition to kickoff a fiery season battle of sports car competition this
weekend in New Jersey. 2009 Trans-Am Champion Tomy Drissi and 2009 Trans-Am
Rookie-of-the-Year Daniel Ramoutarsingh return to the series with RSR for a
two-car assault.
The Trans-Am series will headline numerous race weekends this year, all at
North America's most storied road courses. With ten races scheduled for the
rejuvenated series' 43rd season, the Trans-Am Series opens its 2010 season
with its maiden appearance at New Jersey Motorsports Park, in Millville, New
Jersey. The Southern Road Circuit, Thunderbolt Raceway, features over 2.25
miles of asphalt including a one-half mile straightway and 14 challenging
turns presenting a new challenge for both drivers and team.
In 86 Trans-Am starts from 1999 - 2006 and 2009, Drissi has earned 47
top-ten finishes, 22 top-fives, 14 podiums, two poles and two wins. Last
year, the seasoned veteran started in the top-three in five of seven
Trans-Am races earning one pole and appearing on the podium five times with
one victory en route to his first Trans-Am Championship title.
As the famous moving billboard for 20th Century Fox in the Trans-Am Series,
the owner of Drissi Advertising will continue to promote various movies this
year. At this event, his livery will be promoting the new movie MARMADUKE.
The "Duke" Arrives (www.themarmadukemovie.com) out in theaters June 4.
Driving the #5 MARMADUKE. The "Duke" Arrives Jaguar XKR, the
Hollywood-native embarks on his seventh season driving under the Jaguar
marque in Trans-Am.
"It is an honor to be the defending champion, but the way I look at it is I
was the 2009 Trans-Am Champion and 2010 we are starting all over. I am going
to approach this season race-by-race and do a good job for the RSR team and
the Trans-Am Series. I am anxious to compete in another full-season effort
with support from 20th Century Fox and I will be driving the #5 MARMADUKE
The "Duke" Arrives Jaguar XKR in New Jersey. I have never been to New
Jersey, race track or state, so I am looking forward to the experience and
hoping to leave there with a large trophy.
I am also looking forward to teaming up again this year with Daniel
(Ramoutarsingh). He is a great teammate, I know that we are going to work
really hard with each other to go out there and win races this year."
Now that Ramoutarsingh has his first season of Trans-Am competition under
his belt, look for him to be one of the top contenders this season. After
making seven Trans-Am starts in 2009, the Trinidadian earned five top-ten
finishes, three top-fives, and is coming off two-consecutive podium finishes
which led him to his rookie honors and finishing fourth overall in the
championship.
With goals to successfully participate and contribute to the SCCA Pro Racing
Trans-Am Series under the Trinidad and Tobago national flag, he is also
focused on marketing his sponsors, Trinrico Steel and Wire Products Ltd. and
Cassiel Property Development Ltd. Ramoutarsingh will pilot the #8 Trinrico
Steel & Wire Products Jaguar XKR.
"I am so pleased to have this opportunity to be part of the Trans-Am Series
in 2010, and extend my gratitude to everyone at Trinrico Steel and Wire
Products Limited. This year I look forward to returning with my team and
teammate Tomy Drissi to some of the best race venues in the world. This
season I hope to contend for the championship, and every race event will be
equally important to accomplish that. I think co headlining with other Pro
Series' events will continue to create awareness and draw fans back to
Trans-am, as well as make for some awesome race weekends. I hope to see
everyone come out and support Trans-am."
The 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series competition gets underway this
weekend in New Jersey, May 7-9, with qualifying and the race taking the
green flag on Sunday. For more information go to the series' website at

will run Sept. 19-20, leading into the 2009 SCCA National Championship
Runoffs® week.
“As a track with a 54-year history, we are indebted to the series that have
shared those years,” Road America President and General Manager George
Bruggenthies said. “SCCA Trans-Am’s return to our circuit with its season
finale will mark a 37-year partnership and provide another high-horsepower
road racing event for our fans. The race will also be a powerful welcome to
the teams arriving for the following week’s SCCA National Championship.”
The 2009 Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series season opens March 20-21 at Road
